During the climate summit COP30 in Belem Brazil, the Belgian Hydrogen Council (BHC), Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT) and the Brazil Green Hydrogen Association ABIHV – signed an MoU to facilitate collaboration. This MoU builds on the previous Letter of Intent (LoI) that was signed between the three organisations during the world Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam earlier this year.
The three parties will explore possibilities for setting up a supply chain for green hydrogen and derivatives between Brazil and Belgium, identify opportunities for industry at both sides and exchange expertise. Similar MoU’s have been signed with Hydrom in Oman, GH2 in India and H2Chile.
Brazil offers optimal conditions for renewable hydrogen production, while Belgium combines strong industrial demand with world-class port infrastructure, such as Antwerp-Bruges, positioning it as a gateway for hydrogen and derivatives into Europe. The partnership is expected to drive investment, job creation, and innovation in hydrogen technologies, supporting both countries’ climate commitments and Europe’s decarbonization objectives.
This agreement follows two previous MoUs signed by BHC with Oman in 2024 and India in 2025, confirming Belgium’s strategic role in the global green hydrogen economy.
